How to fix crawler findings on Wix

Where each fix is made on Wix, including where Wix does not let you make it and what to do instead. Every report on a Wix site shows these steps under the finding they fix.

Edit robots.txt

  1. Marketing & SEO → SEO → Tools and settings → Robots.txt Editor.
  2. Edit, save, then check https://yourdomain/robots.txt in a private window: Wix serves it from its edge, so allow a few minutes.

Publish a sitemap

  1. Wix generates /sitemap.xml once the site is published on a connected domain.
  2. Which pages appear is set per page: page SEO settings → "Let search engines index this page".

Publish llms.txt

  1. Wix cannot host a file at the root. Upload llms.txt to the Media Manager, then add a 301 from /llms.txt to its URL in SEO → URL Redirect Manager.

Send HSTS

  1. Wix sets response headers itself; you cannot add HSTS. If the domain runs through Cloudflare, set it there.

Let crawlers through

  1. Wix has no bot-blocking setting for site owners; check for a proxy in front of the domain and for an app that blocks bots.

Fix the structured data

  1. Page SEO settings → Advanced SEO → Structured data markup: edit Wix's generated JSON-LD or add your own.

Clear stale copies

  1. Republish; Wix refreshes its CDN on publish. If Cloudflare is in front, purge there.
