Send a note that deletes itself
The note is encrypted in your browser before it is sent. CrawlCheck stores only the scrambled text; the key that opens it is the part of the link after #, which browsers never send to a server. Once it is read or expires, it is gone.
Someone sent you a note.
How it works
- Your browser makes a new 256-bit key and encrypts the note with it (AES-GCM) before anything is sent.
- CrawlCheck stores only the encrypted text. The key is the part of the link after #, which browsers never send to any server, so we cannot read your note.
- Opening the link fetches the encrypted text and decrypts it in the reader’s browser. If you chose delete on first read, it is deleted from our storage at that moment.
- Unread notes are deleted when they expire. Anyone who has the whole link can read the note, so send it only to the person it is for.
