Saying what AI may do
Write a Content-Signal line and know what each value means.
robots.txt now carries a second kind of line. Content-Signal states, per group, what the content may be used for: search=yes|no (may it be found and shown), ai-input=yes|no (may an assistant read it live to answer someone) and ai-train=yes|no (may it train a model). A signal binds to the group it sits in, so it has to be written in every group, not once at the bottom of the file (Lesson 2).
The common choice for a business site is search=yes, ai-input=yes, ai-train=no: be found, be quoted, do not become training data. A publisher licensing its archive may choose differently. Whatever you choose, the signal and your actual blocks should agree: ai-input=yes next to an edge rule that refuses Claude-User tells two stories.
On your own site
Write one Content-Signal line for your site and add it to every group. Re-scan and confirm every named agent carries it.
